How to Remove Pesky Stickers from Your Car’s Paint

Bumper sticker removal can be a painful process, and lead to damaging the paint you were trying to resurface. The process to remove stickers will vary slightly depending on what they are made out of and what kind of adhesive was used.

If you are lucky, the first method we are outlining will work. If not, you will have to try a little harder. If all else fails, contact your local paint repair and body work shop in Southern California. The experts will be happy to help you restore your car’s natural beauty.

Best Methods for Sticker Removal

1. Hair dryer and credit card) Use a hair dryer on a high setting to heat the glue holding on the sticker. You can use a stiff credit card or similar devise to gently scrape off the paper, plastic, or foil sticker. Make sure you do not use a metal object (like a razor blade) to scrape off the sticker, unless that sticker is on glass.

2. Solvents) This is a tricky one. Many solvents will remove the parts of the sticker you cannot take off by hand. However, these will often eat at the paint and the wax that is protecting the vehicle’s paint. You want to find a solvent that is approved for car paint, which there are several products advertised for this exact purpose. Glass cleaners are also a popular choice.

If all else fails, look for an Orange County body shop to help you out. Spectrum Collision has the paint and body experts that will make your car look like new in no time. While its best to keep stickers on the glass areas of your vehicle, most of us have made the mistake of risking our paintjobs with a simple sticker. Fear not, there are products and experts ready to help restore your car’s value.
