Bad Tires and Rainy Weather is a Dangerous Combo

Worn out tires are deadly on wet roads. That’s because the grooves don’t run deep enough to channel out the water. This results in hydroplaning and you’ll no longer be able to steer your car properly. A tire is considered bald if at least one of its grooves is below 2/32-inch deep.

The bad news is that 2/32-inch is far beyond the point of which you should replace your tires. Based on nationwide studies, you want to consider replacing them when your tires are hitting the 4/32-inch mark instead.

How to Find the Right Tires for Your Vehicle

Many people feel confused about finding the right tire for their vehicle. The first place to start is in the owner’s manual. You might also check the placard located on the jamb of your driver’s side door. You’ll find measurements like this – P225/60R16 94V.

The first section of your label; the P225/60R16 is in reference to the tire’s size. Then, the 94 is how much weight your tire handles, also referred to as a load index. Finally, your V is considered to be the tire’s speed rating. This is the gauge of maximum speed in direct relation to the tire’s load index.

The tire’s size measurements should be matched exactly, but you do have some leeway regarding your load index or speed rating.
